How big will a Boxer and Catahoula Leopard Dog mix get and does it shed?
filed in Pets on Jan.12, 2010
I am thinking of getting this puppy i found online, but i want to know how big it will get and if it will shed a lot. I am hoping that the dog will get to be less than 25 or 30 pounds and that it will shed only a little. Oh, and it’s a girl if that helps!! Thanks everyone!

Those are both good size breeds and the possibility of a pup being up to 30 pounds is probably very low.
I am sure that by 7 months old it will already exceed your weight limit
As for shedding both breeds shed. I myself have boxers and can assure you that they do shed and a few times a year shed quite a bit. It may be short fur but it does shed. The Catahoula Leopard also sheds and am sure more than just a little.
All dogs shed to some extent and there is nothing that can be done about it except to accept and and just vacuum and dust more often
With the above being said and your listed requirements, I do not think that this pup would probably fit your lifestyle and what yo are looking for.
Better to make an educated decision than one due to how cute the pup looks. Plus I never recommend buying a pup/ dog on the internet as you have no way of visiting the breeder to see the conditions that the pups have been kept as well as seeing the Dam and Sire for size and temperament and lets not forget that you wil want to know if health testing was done on the parents and had passed them all prior to the breeder deciding to breed them.

Well, both breeds average 50-80lbs as adult dogs. Females on the lower end, males on the higher, usually. I would guess this puppy to be about that weight.
Are you sure the breed ID is correct? Where is the puppy coming from?
Catahoula’s shed more then you would think, and Im not sure about boxers but I would bet they do too. Im going to guess a catahoula/boxer mix would be a moderate shedder.
At any rate, I bet that is one stunningly beautiful puppy!!

Both breeds are usually above 50 lbs as adults. I have seen each reach 100lbs especially Catahoulas. Both are short fine haired dogs and although all dogs shed their hair, it is not as noticeable as a longer haired breed. This would not be a dog for a small apartment. They are both energetic breeds that need exercise. Boxers are good with small children but Catahoulas can be a bit aggressive. The term leopard is not correct. They are Meryl colored and considered a curr dog as no distinct standard has been set for the breed other than some of my bayou kin.
